The position requires a high school diploma, completion of an SLP assistant program, and CA registration. One year of related experience is preferred; a CA driver’s license may be required for travel between sites.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or its recognized equivalent.
• Certificate of Completion of an SLP Assistant program from an accredited institution.
• One year experience working with individuals with speech and language disabilities in a structured environment.
• Possession of valid registration as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant with the California SLPAB.
• A valid California driver's license and ability to provide transportation between job sites.

Responsibilities

• Provides speech therapy services to students according to IEP goals.
• Assists the Speech-Language Pathologist in assessment of students' communication skills.
• Assists in development of IEP goals and objectives.
• Prepares materials and equipment for classroom and therapy activities.
• Adapts or modifies instructional materials for student needs.
• Documents student progress toward IEP goals with charts and records.
• Assists in case management through consultation, training and activities.
• Checks and maintains augmentative communication devices.
• Performs clerical tasks related to assigned students.
