GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Plans and coordinates speech/language services and staff. Performs skilled technical work in the evaluation and treatment of persons with speech/language disorders. Performs related work as required.
- Under the clinical supervision of the speech/language senior and the general supervision of the Related Services Coordinator, responsible for comprehensive diagnostic and management services for persons with communication disorders, as well as supervising speech services and staff.
- Conduct evaluation procedures to determine speech/language disorders and functional levels regarding receptive/expressive language.
- Prescribe therapy through written reports, conferences, and observation of techniques and results.

- Manage prescriptions and maintenance of augmentative speech aids and equipment.
- Assist in planning and coordinating staff, parent, and community training.
- Participate in staff conferences to evaluate and plan treatment methods.
- Oversee student records related to speech/language therapy.
- Review all written work for accuracy and appropriateness.
- Perform diagnostics, therapeutic services, and record maintenance.
- Position and transfer students as needed.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Ability to plan, assign, and supervise speech department activities.
- Knowledge of principles, methods, materials, and aids used in speech therapy.
- Knowledge of augmentative communication systems and aids.
- Knowledge of current literature in speech therapy.
- Skilled in therapeutic planning, evaluation, and dealing with personality challenges.
- Ability to evaluate communication disorders and determine therapy needs.
- Skill in generating professional reports.
- Knowledge of body mechanics and lifting techniques.
Minimum Qualifications
- NYS Certificate as a Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped.
- Master's degree in Speech Pathology with supervised clinical experience.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Pathology (ASHA).
- State license in Speech Pathology (NY).
Necessary Special Requirements
- Valid NYS Driver's License and adherence to safety policies.
- Current Mantoux tuberculosis test documentation.
- Unsupervised physical contact with clients; criminal background check required.
- Minimum of 15 hours of staff development annually.
