Job summary

Memphis-Shelby County Schools seeks a School Social Worker to support students and families facing social, behavioral, emotional, and academic challenges. Responsibilities include evaluating needs, planning services, and providing individual and group counseling.

You will collaborate with teachers and specialists, maintain confidential case records, and participate in IEP/504 meetings while advocating for student access to community resources and services.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in social work from an accredited college or university.
• One year of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Licensure as a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) by the Tennessee Department of Health.
• Licensed School Social Worker by the Tennessee Department of Education (LSSW).
• Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) credential preferred.
• Valid driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate social, behavioral, emotional, and academic support for students and families.
• Evaluate students' needs and develop plans for services.
• Provide individual and group counseling.
• Consult with teachers and other professionals to support learning and behavior.
• Maintain accurate, confidential case records and documentation.
• Participate in IEP and 504 planning meetings and related conferences.
• Advocate for students and coordinate with schools and community agencies.
• Collaborate with parents, staff, and administrators to monitor progress.
