Job summary

Pediatric Developmental Services (PDS) is hiring a Registered Nurse to support school health programs in Uniontown, PA. The role focuses on basic student care, medication administration oversight, and promoting healthy habits among students and staff.

Ideal candidates hold a BSN with licensure as a School Nurse endorsement or eligibility, plus strong communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with teachers, families, and external providers within the school system.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is required.
• Endorsement as School Nurse or eligibility is required.
• Experience or training in pediatric mental health is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and maintain ethical standards.
• Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
• Ability to coordinate with staff, parents and external agencies.

SCHOOL NURSE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide basic care for students when they are injured ill, and manage chronic conditions.
• Oversee the school's medication administration program.
• Educate students and staff on healthy habits, such as hygiene and proper nutrition.
• Work with school staff to ensure the physical and emotional safety of the school community.

SCHOOL NURSE QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
• Has obtained or is eligible for an endorsement as a School Nurse as prescribed in the bylaws of the State Department of Education.
• Experience or specialized training in the field of pediatric mental health is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and maintain ethical and accountability standards.
• Demonstrates interpersonal skills, and communicates effectively and courteously both verbally and in writing.
• Has the ability to coordinate activities and work effectively with professional staff, support staff, parents, and representatives from agencies outside the school system.
