Job summary

Cumberland County Schools in Fayetteville, NC seeks an Occupational Therapist to provide school-based OT services to students. You will conduct evaluations, develop IEP goals, and collaborate with teachers, parents, and the IEP team to support student success.

The role requires graduation from an accredited OT program, active North Carolina OT license, and pediatric experience is preferred. You may supervise assistants and participate in staff meetings.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of an accredited OT program and hold a current OT license in North Carolina.

Responsibilities

• Performs evaluations that may include standardized tests, skilled observations, teacher/parent/student interviews, and record reviews.
• Interprets evaluation results and makes recommendations to the IEP team regarding the need for school-based occupational therapy intervention.
• Participates as a member of the IEP team for students on OT caseload and attends IEP meetings.
• Writes school-based occupational therapy goals as part of the IEP.
• Provides direct and/or consultative OT treatment to address and meet OT goals.
• Documents and maintains accurate OT records.
• Supervises Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants as needed following guidelines of the NCBOT.
• Provides inservices to teachers and other school-related personnel as needed.
• Contributes to ordering of OT equipment relevant to the educational setting as needed.
• Maintains communication with teachers, parents, and other IEP team members of students on OT caseload.
• Attends Assistive Technology meetings and performs Assistive Technology evaluations as needed.
• Attends OT/PT staff meetings and assists with OT department program planning.
• Fabricates splints and adaptive devices to assist students in their educational environment.
• Provides OT services to homebound CCS students and collaborates with CCS professionals.
• Maintains current NC OT license with 15 hours of CE annually.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
