Job summary

Manhattan Star Academy seeks an Occupational Therapist to provide school-based OT services aligned with students’ IEP goals. You will assess, plan, and implement interventions, collaborate with parents and multidisciplinary teams, and monitor student progress with attention to documentation and compliance.

You will also manage adaptive equipment and participate in supervision and meetings. The role requires a NYSED OT license, strong organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple

Qualifications

• Valid license and current registration as an Occupational Therapist issued by the NYS Department of Education (NYSED).
• Two (2) years of relevant experience in occupational therapy working with school-aged children with significant disabilities.
• Must be well organized with superior attention to detail and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Work with a great degree of self-direction and focus.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs, specifically Word and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Provides occupational therapy-based services to assigned caseload consistent with students’ documented therapy goals, including those defined in areas of instructional and therapeutic focus and/or IEP.
• Develops and implements safe and appropriate therapeutic interventions.
• Provides assessment, mandate recommendations, and intervention in related school-based areas of occupation and updates annual therapy goals as needed.
• Evaluates, documents and monitors provision of service and student progress in a timely manner.
• Communicates and collaborates with parents, school staff and medical professionals regarding health and equipment use.
• Fabricates, maintains and trains staff on adaptive equipment and orthotics.
• Assists with assessments related to assistive technology and durable medical equipment, coordinating with providers and vendors.
• Attends and participates in supervision and department meetings.
• Maintains office and therapy room organization.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
