Job summary

Birch Agency in Accomack County, VA is seeking a School-Based Occupational Therapist for the 2026–2027 school year to provide in-person OT services to students with IEPs. The role focuses on fine motor skills, sensory processing, self-care, and school participation, with collaboration among educators, families, and related service providers to support student achievement.

Compensation is $50 per hour, based on experience, and requires a Bachelor's or Master's in OT, a Virginia license, and NBCOT

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy.
• Current Virginia Occupational Therapy License.
• NBCOT certification.
• School-based experience preferred, but not required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and the community.

Responsibilities

• Provide OT services to eligible students per IEPs.
• Participate in multidisciplinary evaluations and eligibility determinations.
• Develop, implement, and monitor OT goals and treatment plans.
• Document progress and maintain service records.
• Collaborate with teachers and related service providers.
• Consult on classroom accommodations and strategies.
• Communicate with parents/guardians about progress.
• Maintain professional knowledge and skills.
• Ensure safe, organized therapy environments.
• Manage therapy materials, equipment, and documentation.
• Comply with federal, state, and district regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by administration.
