Job summary

Marquette-Alger RESA in Michigan seeks a Mental Health Specialist to provide direct therapy and intervention services within local school districts, supporting the educational, social, and emotional needs of students.

You will facilitate mental health screenings, deliver therapeutic interventions, and collaborate with principals, teachers, and families to implement effective plans while maintaining confidentiality and documentation standards.

Qualifications

• Must hold an active license as a psychologist, school psychologist, psychiatrist, social worker, marriage and family therapist or professional counselor in Michigan.
• Currently licensed with the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs.
• Ability to develop individualized programs for students with unique social-emotional needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct therapy and intervention services, including crisis intervention.
• Provide a problem-solving service to children and their families to cope with educational challenges.
• Provide therapeutic interventions to build skills in self-regulation, social skills, and independence.
• Serve as liaison between school, home, and community to maintain positive relationships.
• Facilitate mental health screenings and assessments as required.
• Coordinate resources within and outside the school system for use by children and families.
• Collaborate with school personnel to improve and implement programs addressing the educational, social, and emotional needs of children.
• Develop and implement functional behavioral assessments and behavioral intervention plans.
• Use data-based decision making to address student concerns.
• Facilitate professional learning for regional and district staff.
