Job summary

The HealthCare Connection, a community health center in Cincinnati, OH, seeks a School Based Medical Assistant to support providers and nurses in a school-based health center. You will prepare patients for exams, take vitals, assist with procedures, vaccinate, and keep accurate medical records.

This role offers a stable schedule with no weekends or evenings, allowing work–life balance while contributing to child and adolescent health in Northern Hamilton County.

Qualifications

  • Certified Medical Assistant program completion with active CPR.
  • Minimum one year of experience in community health or private practice.
  • Experience with electronic health records preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist providers with direct patient care, document vitals and concerns.
  • Conduct screening/tests as requested.
  • Draw blood and administer injections.
  • Handle telephone inquiries and triage.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies in exam rooms.
  • Complete encounter forms and code when needed.
  • Coordinate referrals for patients.
  • Support providers to ensure excellent patient care.

Position Summary

We are seeking a School Based Medical Assistant to join our mission-driven team. In this role, you will support providers and nurses in delivering high-quality care to children and adolescents in a school-based health center. Responsibilities include preparing patients for exams, taking vital signs, assisting with procedures, administering vaccines, maintaining accurate medical records, and helping ensure smooth clinic operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assisting providers with direct patient care including: interviewing the patient and documenting vitals and medical concerns and conditions
  • Conducting requested screening/tests
  • Drawing blood and administering shots to patients
  • Responding to telephone inquiries
  • Maintaining equipment and supplies in exam rooms and office
  • Completing encounter forms and code as necessary
  • Conducting referrals for patients
  • Performing other duties necessary to provide excellent patient care to the patients and to support our providers
Qualifications
  • Graduate of a certified Medical Assistant program
  • Active CPR certification
  • Prefer at least one year of experience in community health nursing setting or private physician practice.
  • Preferred experience working with electronic health records, or proven computer skills a must
  • Excellent communication and customer service
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information and relate to persons from diverse educational, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds
  • Experience working with persons of diverse educational, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds is a plus.
Medical Assistant Levels

This role is part of our Medical Assistant tier system, which includes:
Medical Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), and Senior Medical Assistant levels. Placement is based on experience, certification, and qualifications.
