Job summary

The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse for the Missouri Schools for the Severely Disabled. The role focuses on coordinating health screenings, administering medications, and implementing comprehensive health plans within a school setting.

Responsibilities include training staff on health procedures, collaborating on IEP health needs, and maintaining required CPR certifications while ensuring confidentiality of sensitive information.

Qualifications

• Licensed as an LPN in Missouri.
• Experience with pediatrics and/or individuals with disabilities preferred.
• The position requires a professional license pursuant to state law.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and implement a plan for health screenings.
• Coordinate, design and implement special health care procedures.
• Provide training on lifting techniques, basic first aid, infection control procedures, administering medication, CPR and other in-service as needed.
• Administer medication and other health care procedures according to physician orders.
• Participate in staffing and IEP conferences to provide information on the student’s physical and health needs when requested.
• Oversee all SHCP. Make sure they are completed correctly and all necessary supplies are available. Notify parents if additional supplies are needed.
• Take a leadership role in developing and implementing a comprehensive school health plan.
• Accurately complete required reports on or before established deadlines.
• Collaborate with building administrator to maintain an orderly, attractive, safe, clean environment.
• Maintain CPR training instructor certification and basic CPR certification
• Maintain confidentiality of parent, student and staff personally identifiable information.
