Job summary

Abilities First, Inc. seeks a patient Social Worker (LMSW) to join our Myers Corners and Hyde Park Education Centers in Wappingers Falls and Hyde Park, NY.

You will work with students, families, and teachers to support IEP goals through individual and group counseling within a collaborative multidisciplinary team. The role demands experience with developmental disabilities, strong English communication, and adherence to NYSED documentation.

Qualifications

• LMSW or LCSW-R with five years of experience working with children and adolescents with developmental disabilities.
• Experience with school district systems is helpful.
• Eligibility requirements may apply.

Responsibilities

• Individual and group counseling with students.
• Complete annuals, quarterly reports, follow IEP goals and create goals.
• Collaborate with teachers and interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement IEP goals.
• Provide counseling as listed in a child’s IEP, maintain documentation as required by NYSED.
• Assist families in understanding developmental and behavioral needs of their children.
• Offer crisis intervention and support to students in need.
• Facilitate communication between school, families, and external agencies.
• Promote social-emotional learning and behavioral development.
• Maintain accurate and confidential student records.
• Advocate for families to secure needed services, resources, entitlement and human rights.
