Job summary

Johnston County Public Schools seeks a Homeless and Foster Care Liaison for West Campus Annex to coordinate the McKinney Vento program and provide foster care support, ensuring eligible students receive mandated services.

The role requires collaboration with schools, the Department of Social Services, families, and community groups, with data reporting and participation in Best Interest Determination meetings to support students’ education and attendance.

Qualifications

• Must hold or be eligible to obtain a valid NC SSW license.
• Other professional licenses from NCDPI may be considered, but SSW license is given priority.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the McKinney Vento program and Foster Care support; ensure qualifying students are identified and mandated support is provided.
• Liaise between schools, Department of Social Services, families and community groups to deliver mandated services for foster care students in the school setting.
• Obtain and maintain data for McKinney Vento and Foster Care reporting to NC DPI and grants.
• Direct Best Interest Determination meetings for JCPS students.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff, and community members in writing and speaking.
