Job summary

Sheppard Pratt School in Cumberland is seeking a licensed mental health professional to provide counseling and develop treatment plans, including IEPs, for students with emotional disabilities and autism. You will work with students and families to support educational goals and functional skills within a small-classroom setting.

You will collaborate with families and school systems, conduct risk assessments, respond to emergencies, and maintain clinical records in line with MSDE and regulatory

Qualifications

• Counselor must have LGPC/LCPC/LCMFT at time of hire.
• Social Worker must have LMSW or LCSW-C at time of hire, or apply for licensure within 30 days of acceptance.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual, family, and group counseling and develop treatment plans including IEPs for an assigned caseload.
• Collaborate with families, school systems, and external providers for holistic support and resources.
• Conduct assessments including suicide and violence risk screenings; respond to emergencies as needed.
• Develop evidence-based treatment strategies aligned with IEP goals.
• Assist students with transitions, vocational and life skills training.
• Maintain clinical records (progress notes, initial assessments, IEP reports) per standards.
