Job Description: The Behavioral Health Clinician - Licensed SBHC is a licensed independent Behavioral Health provider supporting students and their families in a school-based clinic. Responsibilities include performing diagnostic psychosocial evaluations, developing care plans, offering individual, family, or group therapy, and collaborating with psychiatric and medical providers. All clinical interventions must be documented per CHC policy, Joint Commission standards, and state regulations. The role focuses on direct client care but may involve supervising unlicensed staff or students.
Job Summary: This full-time salaried position follows a school calendar of 195 days per year.
Role and Responsibilities
Clinical
- Complete initial behavioral health evaluations and conduct psychotherapy sessions with children and/or adults.
- Run at least five therapy groups weekly.
- Work as part of an interdisciplinary team, accepting referrals and identifying patients needing behavioral health services.
- Consult with providers regarding treatment plans and progress.
- Coordinate with psychiatric consultants for diagnostics and medication management.
- Attend clinical and team meetings.
- Meet productivity standards with a focus on quality care.
- Encourage clients to express feelings and develop insight.
- Perform crisis interventions and assess safety concerns.
- Develop and modify treatment plans based on clinical knowledge and standards.
- Support clients and their families in understanding and managing treatment.
- Stay updated on developments in the field and gather community resources.
- Licensed clinicians may supervise interns or staff; unlicensed clinicians are working towards licensure.
Administrative
- Complete documentation in a timely manner, including intake, progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries.
- Ensure all notes are locked after completion.
- Prepare reports for outside agencies with proper releases.
- Participate in agency committees as assigned.
Qualifications
- Licensed as LCSW, LMFT, LPC, or Psychologist in CT, or license-eligible with current associate license.
- Minimum two years of outpatient experience with children and/or adults.
- Experience with brief, problem-focused therapy preferred.
- Reliable transportation is required.
- Bilingual fluency (e.g., English/Spanish) preferred.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Sitting, walking, stair climbing, minimal lifting.
Communication Skills
- Excellent oral and written communication required.

- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient and business information.
