Job summary

Hillside School District is seeking a part-time Athletic Trainer to provide medical coverage for school athletic events and practices. The role requires certification and state licensure, BLS/CPR/AED, and clearance processes.

The trainer will assess injuries, develop rehabilitation plans, and coordinate return-to-play protocols while maintaining confidential records and collaborating with coaches, nurses, and physicians. The position offers hourly pay and limited weekly hours.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Athletic Training from an accredited institution.
• Current certification as an Athletic Trainer.
• Valid New Jersey Athletic Trainer License issued by the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners.
• Current BLS, CPR, and AED certifications.
• Criminal History Review clearance and all other requirements established by the New Jersey Department of Education.

Responsibilities

• Provide athletic training services and medical coverage for athletic practices, competitions, tournaments, and other school-sponsored athletic events.
• Assess and manage athletic injuries and medical emergencies.
• Develop and implement injury prevention and rehabilitation programs for student-athletes.
• Monitor and coordinate return-to-play protocols in accordance with medical recommendations and district procedures.
• Maintain accurate and confidential records of injuries, treatments, and medical clearances.
• Communicate with coaches, parents, physicians, school nurses, and administrators regarding student-athlete health and participation status.
• Assist in the implementation of emergency action plans for athletic facilities and events.
• Maintain athletic training equipment, supplies, and treatment areas.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable district policies, state regulations, and professional standards.
• Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Athletic Director, Superintendent, or designee.
