Job summary

CAPS Collaborative is seeking a dynamic ASL Interpreter to support Deaf & Hard of Hearing programs in Newton Public Schools. The interpreter will assist in general education inclusion classrooms and with Deaf staff, across middle/high school settings.

Responsibilities include facilitating communication among students, staff and teachers in diverse settings, and occasional tutoring or committee involvement. The position runs through the school year with possible summer hours, offering a generous

Qualifications

• Must meet MCDHH and DESE requirements such as MCDHH Screening and EIPA.
• Bachelor degree preferred.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
• 1 year of relevant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate communication among students who are deaf or hard of hearing, hearing peers, teachers and staff.
• Interpret for Deaf staff for meetings and school events as needed.
• May tutor, participate in meetings and contribute to the school’s educational team.
• School year position with additional summer hours available.
