Job summary

Achieve Beyond is seeking a School-Based 1:1 Teacher Aide to provide personalized support to a student within the school environment, under the guidance of the classroom teacher and agency supervisor. You will help promote academic, social, behavioral, and functional success by applying teacher-directed and agency-provided strategies.

Responsibilities include implementing strategies, assisting with classroom activities, collecting observational data, and promoting positive behaviors.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required (NYS minimum standard for teacher aides).
  • Experience working with children, preferably in a school or childcare setting.
  • Successful completion of agency-provided Teacher Aide Training Program (required before placement).
  • Coursework in education, psychology, or related fields a plus.
  • Bilingual skills a plus.

Physical Requirements Of The Role
  • Must be able to assist students in classrooms, hallways, playgrounds, and other school areas.
  • Occasionally lifts/moves objects or provides physical assistance to a student (up to 25 lbs).
  • Constantly positions self to work at student level (e.g., kneeling, bending).
  • Ability to observe student performance and behaviors and respond promptly.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with students and staff.
