Job summary

Manassas City Public Schools in Manassas, Virginia seeks an Attendance Officer for SY 2026-2027 to engage with families and students facing attendance concerns and to coordinate interventions.

Reporting to the Supervisor of Student Data Systems and Applications, the role includes meeting with students and parents, developing attendance contracts, referring cases, and collaborating with law enforcement when needed. This is a full-time, 10-month position with hourly pay.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of state compulsory attendance laws and related resources.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to prepare reports suitable for court and authorities.
• Ability to work with students, parents, citizens and professionals.
• Experience with community resources and restorative practices.

Responsibilities

• Engages with families and students with attendance concerns through intervention meetings and home visits.
• Makes referrals to appropriate authorities or professionals as needed.
• Develops attendance contracts with students and families.
• Monitors terms of attendance with school staff and follows through on commitments.
• Refers cases to community resources and collaborates with agencies.
