Scottsdale Unified School District is seeking a Crossing Guard-PM at Navajo Elementary School in Scottsdale, AZ. This limited appointment role involves patrolling the school campus to ensure student safety, reporting security concerns, and assisting with general duties as needed.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, the ability to complete Crossing Guard training, and compliance with DPS fingerprint clearance requirements as applicable.

FLSA STATUS : Non-Exempt

POSITION OBJECTIVE :

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES : (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)

• Provides a security presence at the school complex by walking around the facility and monitoring activities and students; reports the presence of unauthorized personnel to the school office.
• Monitors activities on campus to ensure the safety of students, which may include: identifying safety violations; diffusing situations among students; reinforcing positive social behavior
• Performs minor housekeeping and groundskeeping tasks to keep the environment free of litter and/or dangerous situations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE : (positions in this class typically require):

High School Diploma or G.E.D.; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

LICENSING REQUIREMENTS : (positions in this class typically require):

Depending on assignment, may require:

• Ability to complete Crossing Guard training.
• Valid Department of Public Safety (DPS) Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (FPCC)

• Basic safety and security principles, practices, equipment, and procedures;

• Recognizing potential security risks;
• Providing customer service;

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS : Positions in this class typically require: reaching, finger dexterity, and grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Return To Work Retirees will have an hourly rate approximately 9% lower than listed below without falling below minimum wage.
