Desert Canyon Elementary in Scottsdale, AZ, is seeking a Limited Appointment Noon Aide to support school safety and student supervision. The role is part-time and located on site at the Desert Canyon Elementary campus.

Responsibilities include security presence and monitoring, assisting with student interactions, basic housekeeping tasks, and supporting school operations. Requires a high school diploma or GED and completion of Crossing Guard training and FPCC clearance.

PAY GRADE: B

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provides a security presence at the school complex by walking around the facility and monitoring activities and students; reports the presence of unauthorized personnel to the school office.
• Monitors activities on campus to ensure the safety of students, which may include: identifying safety violations; diffusing situations among students; reinforcing positive social behavior
• Performs minor housekeeping and groundskeeping tasks to keep the environment free of litter and/or dangerous situations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or G.E.D.; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

LICENSING REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to complete Crossing Guard training.
• Valid Department of Public Safety (DPS) Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (FPCC)

KNOWLEDGE:

• Basic safety and security principles, practices, equipment, and procedures;
• customer service principles.

SKILLS:

• Recognizing potential security risks;
• Providing customer service;
• Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Positions in this class typically require: reaching, finger dexterity, and grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
