Job summary

New York City Department of Education seeks a School Aide to support classroom and school operations at PS 150 in New York, NY. The role relieves teachers of non-teaching tasks and assists with clerical, lunchroom, and bus-related duties, contributing to a safe, orderly learning environment.

Schedule is Monday through Friday with a minimum of 4 hours per day, five days per week, per collective bargaining agreement. Applicants undergo fingerprinting and background checks.

Qualifications

• Excellent attendance and punctuality record.
• Ability to work with supervisors and school staff.
• Demonstrated history of good human relations.
• Ability to carry out assignments efficiently.
• Bilingual candidates may be considered for schools with student or familial language needs.
• Ability to walk or stand for long periods and lift up to 10 lbs.
• Experience working with students, preferably high school-age.
• Ability to hold high school students to high expectations.

Responsibilities

• Relieves teachers of school activities which do not require teaching or other professional skills.
• Relieves teachers in monitorial duties (yard, hall, lavatory, study hall).
• Handles, stores, and distributes textbooks, instructional supplies and special materials.
• Assists with clerical work of a routine nature.
• Maintains order in the lunchroom and facilitates lunch service.
• Assists with school clerical work of a routine nature.
• Checks reports, notes, library lists, etc.
• Manages arrival and departure of students transported by bus.
• Receives students at lunch, guides washing, wrapping disposal, and lunch lineups.
• Supervises daily activities including entry, dismissal, lunch, and drills.
