Job summary
Brightway Living & Learning is seeking a Substitute Teaching Assistant for the School Age Program on a per diem basis. The role supports students with developmental disabilities in an ungraded self-contained classroom, under supervision of qualified professionals.
Training opportunities are provided to advance in the field. Requirements include a High School Diploma, interest in supporting students with disabilities, and willingness to obtain NYS Teaching Assistant Certification; in-services and
Qualifications
- Empathy and patience when supporting students with disabilities.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.
- Willingness to attend in-services and professional development.
Responsibilities
- Assist the teacher in implementing IEPs.
- Collect student behavior and performance data as directed by the teacher.
- Assist in basic instructional activities and student supervision.
- Attend and pass required trainings and in-services.
- Participate in performance reviews and adapt to program needs.
- Maintain proper class ratios and follow handbook policies.
