Job summary

The Learning Experience – Gaithersburg is seeking a School Age Teacher for our before- and after-school program. You will help create a safe, engaging environment balancing homework support, enrichment activities, and active play for elementary-aged children.

As a School Age Teacher, you will foster confidence, independence, and positive social relationships while helping children continue learning beyond the school day.

Qualifications

• Must meet Maryland Office of Child Care qualifications for a School Age Teacher.
• Previous experience working with school-age children in a childcare, camp, school, or after-school program preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and engage school-age children in a safe, structured environment.
• Plan and lead age-appropriate enrichment activities, games, STEM projects, arts and crafts, and outdoor play.
• Assist children with homework and encourage independent learning habits.
• Build positive relationships with children, families, and fellow educators.
• Ensure accurate attendance and maintain appropriate teacher-to-child ratios.
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.
• Follow all Maryland OCC licensing regulations and center policies.
• Collaborate with center leadership to provide a high-quality program for families.

The Learning Experience – Gaithersburg is seeking an energetic and dependable School Age Teacher to support our growing before- and after-school program. This role is ideal for educators who enjoy working with elementary-aged children by creating a safe, engaging environment that balances homework support, enrichment activities, and active play.

As a School Age Teacher, you'll help children continue learning beyond the school day while fostering confidence, independence, and positive social relationships.
