Montgomery Before & After School Program – Site Supervisor
Princeton, NJ – SACC and Youth Development
An exciting opportunity to join a progressive YMCA located in vibrant Somerset County, New Jersey. Under the direction of the Montgomery School Age Child Care Director, the Site Supervisor oversees daily operations at a designated SACC site, ensures successful delivery of the program, assists the Site Director, and supports children with homework, fun activities, and new ideas.
Principal Activities
- Supervises groups of children and leads staff.
- Plans and implements a varied and challenging program of activities for children (ages 6–13) including Homework Time, Enrichment Activities, Organized Physical Activities, Free Play, and Snack Time.
- Creates and maintains a fun environment for children to work and play productively and comfortably, with full access to necessary materials.
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with children and families, greeting them positively every day.
- Communicates program issues to the SACC Director.
- Supports parent/family communication and follow‑up with the Director.
- Facilitates planning and participates in service meetings with the Director.
- Supervises and manages daily snack.
- Maintains and tracks supplies for programs and activities, including equipment, program supplies, administrative supplies, and first aid equipment.
- Maintains site/room, equipment, and materials in an orderly and safe manner.
- Manages rosters and attendance records and ensures accurate record‑keeping.
- Implements safety measures and regulations in compliance with NJ Department of Children & Families – Office of Licensing & Community Partners.
- Supervises and documents regular safety drills.
- Organizes and manages site‑based licensing paperwork.
- Ensures implementation of health and safety policies at all times, following up on incident reports and filing documents.
- Ensures all emergency procedures are carried out according to Princeton YMCA & Greater Somerset County YMCA standard operating procedures.
- Supports promotion and publicity efforts for all YMCA programs.
- Demonstrates leadership and serves as a positive influence and role model to colleagues and staff.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- At least two years of experience working with children in a school, after‑school, or camp setting.
- Sound judgment, ability to prioritize, and self‑directed work.
- Ability to work flexibly with a collaborative team of staff and volunteers.
- Ability to maintain systems for accurate record keeping.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification, or obtain within 90 days of hire.

- Positive, can‑do attitude demonstrated by willingness to pitch in and help wherever needed, and the ability to anticipate needs.

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Elementary Education, Recreation, or another child‑related field.
Hours & Compensation
Available working hours are Monday–Friday 7:00 am–9:30 am (before school) or 3:30 pm–6:00 pm (after school). Hours may vary by site. Hours worked will be between 15–30 hours per week, depending on personal availability.
Position will run from September 2024 through June 2025.
Location
Montgomery Township Schools – Orchard Hill Elementary (Grades K–2): 244 Orchard Road, Skillman, NJ 08558.
Village Elementary (Grades 3–4) – Before & After Care Available: 100 Main Boulevard, Skillman, NJ 08558.
