Job summary

Magical Beginnings in Grafton, MA is seeking a School Age Group Leader to supervise the afternoon program for school-age children. You will create a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom, plan activities, help with homework, and foster positive relationships with children and families.

The role requires being 18+, at least 6 months in education, and availability Monday through Friday with afternoons until 5:00 pm.

Qualifications

• 18 years or older with a minimum of 6 months experience in education required.
• Daycare experience in a center-based or private school setting preferred.
• EEC Preschool Teacher Certification, CDA, or equivalent degree and experience preferred.
• Engaging and energetic demeanor with a love for helping young children meet developmental goals.
• Availability to work Monday through Friday with afternoons until 5:00 pm.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a group of school-age children during our afternoon program.
• Create a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment.
• Plan and facilitate age-appropriate activities including arts and crafts, games, STEM, outdoor play, and group projects.
• Support children with homework, reading, and other school-related activities when needed.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with children and their families.
• Encourage cooperation, independence, problem-solving, and positive social interactions.
• Maintain consistent routines, expectations, and classroom structure.
• Use positive guidance and age-appropriate behavior management strategies.
• Supervise children closely and maintain active awareness of their safety and well-being.
• Communicate effectively with families and members of the teaching team.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting classroom environment.
