Job summary

Spokane Public Schools is seeking staff for Express school-age childcare programs in Spokane. The role supports before/after school activities, supervises children, and helps maintain program quality.

Applicants should hold a high school diploma or equivalent, have experience with elementary students, and possess CPR/First Aid and food handler's permits. The position requires interacting with a diverse community of learners and adhering to safeguarding guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with elementary students.
• Experience in school setting or youth program preferred.
• Education in child development or related field desirable.
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in basic communication skills.
• CPR, first aid, and food handler's permit required upon hiring.
• Ability to work with diverse groups of students, teachers, parents, and administrators while maintaining confidentiality.
• Ability to lift 30 pounds and walk with students on field trips.
• Willingness to assist students with personal hygiene when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Implement a schedule of activities and events before and after school for school-age children and assist in operating the Infant/Toddler program at Spokane Montessori Express Pre-school.
• Assure proper care and maintenance of the facilities used in the Express program.
• Supervise all children enrolled in the Express program.
• Assist the Express site director or Infant/Toddler Lead in developing program and activities.
• Maintain records as required.
• Carry out appropriate and positive discipline as established by the program coordinator.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
