Job summary

The Kettle Moraine YMCA seeks a School Age Director to lead licensed before- and after-school programs at West Bend, WI. You will oversee staff, ensure safety, manage budgets and collaborate with Day Camp Director to align summer day camp activities.

Responsibilities

  • Manages, directs and coordinates the school age childcare programs for assigned location(s); ensures high quality programs and establishes new program activities; expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
  • Assist the Day Camp Director to coordinate the Day Camp program.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed; reviews and evaluates staff performance; develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Develops, manages and controls budgets related to the position; ensures program operates within budget and that program fees are collected; supports and budgets for healthy eating through coaching, mentoring, and monitoring menu quality.
  • Ensures that YMCA program standards and Wisconsin State Licensing requirements are met and safety procedures followed.
  • Provides for upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment and ensures the physical environment supports healthy living.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Branch Director, the School Age Director supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Develops, organizes and implements high-quality licensed YMCA before and after school child care programs. Assists the with Day Camp Director with oversite of the licensed summer day camp programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manages, directs and coordinates the school age childcare programs for assigned location(s); ensures high quality programs and establishes new program activities; expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
  • Assist the Day Camp Director to coordinator the Day Camp program.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed; reviews and evaluates staff performance; develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.

  • Ensures that YMCA program standards and Wisconsin State Licensing requirements are met and safety procedures followed.
  • Provides for upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment and ensures the physical environment supports healthy living.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with Wisconsin state childcare licensing, school administration, parent groups and other organizations andagencies related to assigned programs; responds to all agency, parent and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
  • Attends Day Camp and School Age Cabinet meetings.
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
  • Compiles program statistics; monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.
  • Adhere to the Code of Conduct and policies within the Child Abuse Prevention handbook.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

CERTIFICATIONS:

1. Bloodborne Pathogens/Child Abuse Prevention every year

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be capable of carrying loads of up to 30 pounds and able to traverse hilly and uneven terrain without undue exertion.
  • Work in conditions that will create dirt and dust.
  • Perform essential program support to camp activities and programs which may include, but not limited to the following activities: semi – reaching to full-reach overhead, crouching, kneeling, shoveling, working in narrow and/or confining spaces underground, overhead, and at ground level, twisting of the waist, shoulders, and legs, and lying on stomach and/or back.
  • Ability to perform tasks outdoor in different climates.
