Scheduling Coordinator II - FPA Access Center

Description

In the Scheduling Coordinator II role within the FPA Access Center, you will be responsible for exemplifying patient experience while interacting with patients and visitors over the telephone and other communication channels by providing superior customer service. The FPA Access Center, which is a centralized contact/call center for the Mount Sinai Health System located on the West Side of Manhattan, supports many of the doctors’ offices within our health system. The Scheduling Coordinator II is a senior-level individual responsible for scheduling appointments, consults, and follow-ups, mentoring less experienced staff, and assisting in oversight of front desk and office activities in the absence of the Supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules patient FPA appointments and updates the practice management system.
  • Collects patient demographics and insurance information, entering data into the system.
  • Verifies insurance coverage prior to appointments and informs patients of any referrals or authorizations needed.
  • Schedules tests or consults for patients as needed.
  • Initiates reminder calls for next-day appointments.
  • Trains and mentors less experienced staff and discusses concerns with the Supervisor.
  • Acts as a liaison between staff and patients regarding concerns.
  • Participates in customer service initiatives, patient satisfaction surveys, and reporting.
  • Contributes to performance appraisals with the Supervisor.
  • Performs other related duties.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma/GED
  • At least 3 years of secretarial/clerical experience, preferably in a medical practice environment

This position is part of the Non-Bargaining Unit, 008 - FPA Access Center - ISM, Icahn School of Medicine.

Compensation

The salary range for this role is $19.02 to $28.53 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. Benefits and bonuses are not included in this range.
