Job Overview

The Scheduling Coordinator manages patient appointments, follow-ups, and surgeries within the assigned unit/clinic. Responsibilities include obtaining authorizations, preparing patient charts, scheduling ancillary services, reviewing and coding charge slips, and maintaining records. The role also involves coordinating with other departments and supporting staff to ensure efficient case flow and patient care.

Essential Duties
  • Coordinate surgery scheduling and manage potential conflicts under the supervision of the Director of Clinical Information Systems.
  • Protect patient confidentiality and promote a professional environment.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and staff about case updates and scheduling changes.
  • Accurately enter and manage information in computer systems.
  • Maintain organized records, including insurance documentation and master calendars.
  • Order supplies efficiently, verify physician credentials, and obtain necessary authorizations.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives and additional projects as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of experience in medical office management, secretarial, or assisting roles, or equivalent education/experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other relevant computer programs.
Preferred Qualifications and Certifications
  • Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) - must be obtained within 30 days if not already held.
Additional Details

The hourly rate ranges from $22.00 to $34.18. USC considers various factors when extending offers, including experience, education, skills, and market conditions.
