Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Incumbent serves as Scheduling Clerk for Superior Court 6, responsible for providing clerical assistance to department personnel and for criminal and civil cases.DUTIES:Schedules civil and criminal hearings on calendars, schedule interpreters for hearings, and contacts attorneys to schedule court hearings as needed.Performs various clerical functions as assigned or as needed, including preparing chronological case summary entries and orders, correcting of entries as needed, preparing requested lists, researching bankruptcy cases on internet, and providing general information to the public.Periodically prepares grid of hearing dates/times for new cases for the Judge’s review and approval.Schedules interpreters for non-English speaking defendants through Court Administration.Periodically serves as night court disposition clerk.Periodically performs duties of Receptionist, Bailiff, Court Reporter, File Clerk, and Administrator in their absences as needed.Periodically creates a calendar on computer with court hearings proposed at certain times/dates for the year.Works the scheduling queue. Works other queues as needed.Performs related duties as assigned.I. JOB REQUIREMENTS AND DIFFICULTY OF WORK:High school diploma or GED and a minimum of two years of clerical experience, preferably in a legal/court environment.Working knowledge of standard office and court policies, procedures and related terminology, and ability to apply such knowledge to a variety of interrelated tasks.Ability to type with speed and accuracy and properly operate a variety of standard office equipment, including computer, printer, calculator, telephone, fax machine and copier.Working knowledge of standard English grammar, spelling and punctuation, and ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with co-workers, other County departments, and the public, including being sensitive to professional ethics, gender, cultural diversities and disabilities.Ability to work on several tasks at the same time, often under time pressure, and complete assignments effectively amidst frequent distractions and interruptions.Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions/directions, and appropriately respond to constructive criticism.Ability to recognize dangerous and safety-compromised situations and respond to them.Ability to competently serve the public with diplomacy and respect, including occasional encounters with irate/hostile persons.Ability to understand and conform to ethical requirements of Code of Judicial Conduct.Ability to comply with all employer/department personnel policies and work rules, including, but not limited to, attendance, safety, drug-free workplace, and personal conduct.Ability to work alone and with others in a team environment with minimum supervision, and maintain appropriate, respectful interrelationships with co-workers.Ability to provide public access to or maintain confidentiality of department information/records according to state requirements and Code of Federal Regulations.Ability to occasionally work extended and/or evening hours.II. PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:Incumbent performs duties in a standard office environment involving sitting for long periods, sitting and walking at will, close and far vision, hearing communication, speaking clearly, bending, reaching, crouching/kneeling, keyboarding, color and depth perception, and handling/grasping/ fingering objects.
