Job summary

Paradise Valley Hospital, part of Prime Healthcare, seeks a Surgery Scheduling Coordinator to manage surgical bookings for pediatric to older adult patients in the OR and GI Lab. You will coordinate vendor services, prepare schedules, and support accurate clinical documentation.

Responsibilities include medical charge entry, monthly statistics, and front-desk communications while assisting leadership with clerical duties on a busy hospital ward in National City, CA.

Qualifications

• Experience in a medical care setting is preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Strong clerical and computer skills.
• Current BLS (AHA) upon hire.
• Command of the English language.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Previous OR experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Routinely books surgical cases for pediatric to older adult patients for the OR and GI Lab.
• Coordinates and confirms acquisition of services, equipment, and supplies from outside vendors.
• Prepares and distributes the surgical schedule and on-call list.
• Checks, enters and reconciles daily patient charges; prepares and distributes monthly surgical statistics.
• Answers phones and communicates messages; assists OR Director and Charge Nurse with clerical duties.
• Works with other departments and outside companies to support safe, efficient patient care.

Responsibilities

The Surgery Scheduling Coordinator routinely books surgical cases for pediatric, adolescent, adult and older adult patients for the OR and the G.I. Lab. Coordinates and confirms the acquisition of services, equipment, instrumentation and supplies from outside vendors for scheduled surgeries. Prepares and distributes the surgical schedule and on call list to appropriate departments or personnel. Checks, enters and reconciles the daily patient charges. Prepares and distributes the monthly surgical statistics. Updates the Surgery Schedules and completes the required Log Book. Answers phones and appropriately communicates messages. Assists OR Director and Charge Nurse with additional clerical duties. Works with coworkers, other departments and outside companies, assisting with the provision of safe, efficient and quality patient care.

• Previous experience in a Medical Care Setting.

• Previous experience in the OR preferred.
• Current BLS (AHA) upon hire and maintain current.

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $23.00 to $26.75. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
