Job summary

Iberia Medical Center in New Iberia, LA is seeking a Full Time Scheduler to support oncology physicians and patients by scheduling diagnostic and therapeutic services. You will verify insurance, communicate financial responsibilities, and coordinate pre-certifications and admissions with Case Management and Financial Counselors.

Typical hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with a customer-friendly, professional approach across staff, patients and visitors.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Background of medical terminology and prior healthcare experience desirable. Two years related experience in a health care facility preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians’ staff and patients with scheduling of procedures.
• Ensure pre-certification is obtained prior to performance of procedures.
• Create pre-admitted charts for scheduled visits.
• Communicate patient’s insurance benefits and financial responsibilities to patients and/or Financial Counselor.
• Notify insurances of admissions to obtain authorization and relay information requests to Case Management.
• Assist with renaming, uploading, re-sorting, and organizing RightFax; schedule from fax orders.

IMC is currently hiring a Full Timescheduler to join our team. The SchedulerAssists Oncology physicians and patients in scheduling diagnostic and therapeuticservices to be performed by the hospital.Ensures that certification and insurance verification are done in atimely manner and that certification has been obtained prior to anyprocedure being performed that requires this.Communicates patient financial responsibility to the patient ORcommunicates the patient’s insurance benefits to the Financial Counselor sothat a proper quote of patient financial responsibility may be communicated tothe patient. Notifies insurancecompanies of patients’ inpatient admissions and communicates any insurance’srequest for clinical information to the Case Management department. Insurance verification information must beentered into the hospital’s information system and pre-registration packetsfiled promptly for reference by other staff and departments. All employees are to communicate in acustomer-friendly, professional manner to assist our patients, visitors andother customers.

WORK HOURS:

Mondaythru Friday 8:00AM-5PM.

QUALIFICATIONS/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:

• High School graduate or equivalent

PRINCIPLE TASKS, DUTIES, & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assistswith renaming, uploading, re-sorting, and organizing the RightFax system asneeded. Scheduling patients from these faxed orders as needed.
