Job summary

Kiewit Power Engineering is seeking a Mid-Level Civil Designer based in Lenexa, KS or other listed offices to join our drafting and design team. The role focuses on 2D/3D modeling, design coordination, and collaboration with project teams to deliver high-quality infrastructure projects.

Base compensation starts at $73,000 to $76,000 per year, reflecting experience and location; candidates bring a diploma in drafting technology and 3–5+ years civil design experience, with proficiency in AutoCAD

Qualifications

  • Diploma in drafting technology and 3-5+ years of civil design experience or a combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient in utilizing CAD programs such as AutoCAD or Civil 3D. Background using AutoCAD, MicroStation, GeoPak, InRoads, Navis Works, Google Earth.
  • Basic knowledge of the latest computer operating systems, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Ability to effectively communicate through emails and utilize electronic meeting requests.
  • Experience with solar PV layouts preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with 2D and 3D modeling, ensuring correct reference files are attached and model reference directory is up to date; develop models from drawings, sketches and design skills.
  • Coordinate with project team via Project Database; report progression and issues to Lead Designer as required.
  • Assist in review of designs for consistency, safety, operability and maintenance requirements before submission.
  • Help create guidelines, checklists or knowledge base documents as assigned.
  • Collaborate with team members in design and drafting techniques to challenge abilities; provide constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate with various disciplines and groups to support business needs.
  • Assist in completion of as-builts using RFIs, ECNs and red-marked drawings to develop “Conformed to Construction Records”.
  • Participate in project and layout meetings; coordinate activities of project team members.

Our staff leads the power markets engineering process and collaborates with Kiewit’s construction teams to approach construction-driven engineering with a focus on safe, cost-effective, and innovative designs that achieve client expectations and further Kiewit’s legacy of excellence.

Location

This position can be based in any of the following office locations: Lenexa, KS; Lone Tree, CO; Houston, TX; Raleigh, NC; Phoenix/Tempe, AZ; New York City, NY; or Woodcliff Lake, NJ.

For roles in Chattanooga, TN; Detroit, MI; or Richmond, VA, the position will start remotely and transition to a hybrid/in office arrangement once the new office is established.

Responsibilities
