Job summary

Kiewit is seeking a Scheduling Intern to support the Power division across multiple markets from its Lenexa, Kansas office. The role focuses on scheduling from estimate through completion, analyzing progress, and helping drive on‑time project delivery.

The intern will work with cross‑functional teams to develop schedules, monitor critical milestones, and contribute to risk and performance reporting as part of the Project Controls group.

  • Assist in internal controls, reporting project status and data integrity.
  • Apply engineering/procurement terminology to develop critic path logic networks.
  • Offer guidance for resolving complex project control problems.
  • Collaborate with project teams to prepare accurate reports under deadlines.
  • Attend meetings and present statistical reports as needed.

Position Overview

Kiewit is seeking a Scheduling Intern to serve multiple markets in our power division. This hands‑on role will give you the opportunity to directly impact the scheduling outcome, from estimate through project completions, over a broad range of projects. By analyzing, monitoring, and maintaining the projects’ progress, you’ll prepare and analyze reports, develop alternative solutions, and be a key team member in driving successful project completion.

Location

This position is based in our Lenexa, Kansas office.

Responsibilities
  • Develop resource loaded schedules, including lists of activities, major milestones, critical approvals, long lead procurement items and other critical project deliverables to be scheduled and tracked for the project.
  • Develop and maintain schedule logic and constraints, realistic activity durations, available manpower, and resources.
  • Provide scheduling analysis for delays and impacts to identify and mitigate project risks.
  • Assist in the management of internal controls including implementing new process controls, measuring the project’s performance, reporting on project status, and ensuring the integrity and validity of internally and externally disseminated information.
  • Gain and apply knowledge of engineering, procurement, and construction terminology to develop and maintain critic path logic networks and accumulate/access historical data for use in maintaining realistic future planning and forecasting.
  • Provide guidance, direction, and specialized assistance for the resolution of difficult project control problems.
  • Collaborate effectively with various project teams, field personnel, and clients to create accurate reports and achieve goals under deadline.
  • Attend regular meetings and give statistical reports as needed.

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in construction management, engineering, or related field
