Overview

The US Oncology Network is looking for a Scheduler to join our team at Texas Oncology. This full-time position supports our Scheduling Department at our Plano East location. The work week is Monday through Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm, with no weekends or major holidays.

Responsibilities
  • Answer incoming calls; assess needs and direct to appropriate personnel; communicate messages accurately and promptly.
  • Schedule new, referred, and returning patients in the system according to physician and office guidelines; manage documentation and coding for new and referred patients; reschedule appointments as needed.
  • Obtain and record insurance authorizations and referrals in patient charts or EMR.
  • Collect co-pays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket expenses at visits.
  • Maintain scheduling templates for physicians, satellite clinics, rounding, and call coverage.
  • Arrange for financial counseling for patients as needed.
  • Protect patient confidentiality and adhere to policies to ensure efficiency in the front office.
  • Prepare correspondence, memos, forms, and other documentation as requested.
  • Schedule outpatient appointments, tests, surgeries, and hospital admissions; obtain pre-certifications.
  • Communicate scheduling details and pre-op instructions to patients; follow up on pre-operative tests and communicate with physicians and patients regarding clearance or additional testing.
  • Schedule post-operative follow-ups and understand basic medical terminology related to tests and procedures.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have the following background:

Level 1
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 0-3 years' experience, preferably in a medical office.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and coding is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
Level 2
  • At least three years of office experience, preferably in a medical setting.
Level Sr
  • At least five years of office experience, preferably in a medical setting.
  • Required knowledge of medical terminology and coding.
Physical Demands

Work may involve sitting for long periods, occasional lifting up to 30 pounds, and manual dexterity for operating office equipment. Vision and hearing must be sufficient for communication and computer use. Reasonable accommodations may be provided for individuals with disabilities.
