Job summary

Piping Technology & Products (PT&P) in Houston seeks a Scheduler to plan, coordinate, and adjust production schedules to ensure on-time delivery and efficient use of resources. You will work closely with Production, Sales, Purchasing, and Quality to balance customer deadlines with shop capacity and material availability.

The role requires 2+ years in scheduling or manufacturing, strong Excel skills, and excellent organizational ability.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required; associate's degree or higher preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in production scheduling, planning, or manufacturing.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and good communication.
  • Understanding of safety practices in an industrial setting.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules based on orders, priorities, and shop capacity.
  • Coordinate with Sales/Customer Service to confirm order details, due dates, and special requirements.
  • Adjust schedules in response to material delays, equipment downtime, staffing changes, or rush orders.
  • Communicate schedule changes and priorities to Production Supervisors and shop floor teams.
  • Track job progress against schedule and flag potential delays.
  • Coordinate with Purchasing to ensure timely material delivery.
  • Monitor WIP and update scheduling software/ERP accordingly.
  • Balance workload across machines, departments, and shifts to optimize efficiency.
  • Prepare and distribute production reports, schedule updates, and status reports to management.
  • Coordinate scheduling for outside processing (galvanizing, coating, third-party inspection) as needed.
  • Support on-time delivery metrics and identify root causes of schedule slippage.
  • Attend production meetings to provide schedule updates and align on priorities.
  • Maintain accurate ERP data (job status, due dates, routing, etc.).
  • Assist with capacity planning and forecasting based on sales pipeline and backlog.
  • Perform other scheduling and production support duties as assigned.

Position Summary

The Scheduler is responsible for planning, coordinating, and adjusting production schedules to ensure on-time delivery, efficient use of resources, and smooth workflow across departments. This role works closely with Production, Sales, Purchasing, and Quality to balance customer deadlines with shop capacity and material availability.

  • Coordinate with Sales/Customer Service to confirm order details, due dates, and any special requirements
  • Adjust schedules in response to material delays, equipment downtime, staffing changes, or rush orders
  • Communicate schedule changes and priorities clearly to Production Supervisors and shop floor teams
  • Track job progress against schedule and proactively flag potential delays
  • Coordinate with Purchasing to ensure materials arrive in time to support the production schedule
  • Monitor work-in-progress (WIP) and update scheduling software/ERP system accordingly
  • Balance workload across machines, departments, and shifts to optimize efficiency and minimize bottlenecks
  • Prepare and distribute production reports, schedule updates, and status reports to management
  • Coordinate scheduling for outside processing (e.g., galvanizing, coating, third-party inspection) as needed

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods (8+ hours)
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 50 lbs. independently
  • Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and manual handling of materials required
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
  • Ability to tolerate noise, heat, and dust in a manufacturing environment
  • Visual acuity to read measuring tools, drawings, and detect quality defects
  • Must pass initial and ongoing physical or occupational health screenings (e.g., lifting assessment, vision test, hearing test, etc.)
  • Must be able to wear required PPE, including steel-toe boots, gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection
Work Environment

Manufacturing floor with exposure to moving mechanical parts, sharp materials, and moderate to loud noise. May be exposed to hot or cold environments depending on season. Work schedule may include overtime or weekend shifts as needed.
