Job summary

USF is seeking a Scheduler to plan and prepare production schedules for the manufacture of industrial or commercial products. The ideal candidate will have an associate's degree and be able to handle production specifications, workflow planning, and inventory observations effectively.

Summary

Scheduler plans and prepares production schedules for manufacture of industrial or commercial products by performing the following duties:

Essential Functions
  • Include the following.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Draws up master schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet shipping dates according to sales forecasts or customer orders.
  • Analyzes production specifications and plant capacity data and performs mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, tools, and human resource requirements and maintain plant capacity database.
  • Plans and schedules workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times.
  • Plans sequence of fabrication, assembly, installation and other manufacturing operations for guidance of production workers.
  • Confirms with department supervisors to determine status of assigned projects.
  • Expedites operations that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
  • Schedules production using Parts +.
  • Participates in Fast Response Meeting and is prepared to cover short ship issues and supply or customer increase issues.
  • Provides part labels to Production based on production schedule.
  • Observes inventory levels to determine if they need to be increased/decreased – always focuses on inventory reductions.
  • Assists in smooth transition of any supplier change or product change.
  • Assists with capacity questionnaires as requested by customers.
  • Maintains internal press capacity spreadsheet.
  • Coordinates with production/engineering for sample runs.
  • Follows through with ECN changes with quoting and bank build.
  • Assists Corporate Purchasing with volumes and service reports.
  • Is responsible for taking corrective actions for all nonconforming items identified.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as they relate to overall safe and efficient plant operation.
  • Acts on supervisory responsibilities in the event this position becomes vacant, with the Materials Manager resuming responsibilities.
  • Fulfills environmental responsibilities: cooperation with action team directives, familiarity with evacuation plans, training in clean‑up modules, and familiarity with Environmental plant postings.

  • Education and/or Experience: associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
