UPS Industrial Services, LLC is seeking a Scheduler to develop, maintain, and update project schedules across industrial, commercial construction, turnaround, or maintenance projects. You will support project teams by ensuring schedules reflect current status and enable coordination across disciplines to hit milestones.

Reporting to the Lead Scheduler, you will collect progress data, produce reports, and highlight potential delays or conflicts.

Qualifications

  • Requires basic scheduling knowledge and strong attention to detail.
  • Must have good communication skills and ability to generate/interpret reports.
  • Proficient with Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project; familiarity with CPM scheduling.
  • Education: high school diploma minimum; degree preferred in construction/engineering/project management.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and update project schedules using CPM and other techniques.
  • Collect progress data from field teams to reflect current status.
  • Coordinate with project members to gather schedule inputs and resolve conflicts.
  • Produce schedule reports, charts, and presentations for meetings.
  • Monitor milestones and identify delays or risks related to schedule performance.
  • Support Lead Scheduler with forecasts, variance analysis, and recovery plans.
  • Maintain schedule databases and ensure compliance with standards.
  • Assist with schedule integration across multiple disciplines and interfaces.
  • Use Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar tools for schedule creation and maintenance.
  • Prepare schedule-related documentation for stakeholders.

Job description

The Scheduler is responsible for developing, maintaining, and updating project schedules across industrial, commercial construction, turnaround, or maintenance projects. This role supports the project management and planning teams by ensuring schedules accurately reflect current project status and facilitate coordination among project disciplines to meet milestones and deadlines.

Reporting to the Lead Scheduler or Planning Manager, the Scheduler works closely with engineering, procurement, field supervision, and subcontractors to collect progress data, update schedules, and highlight potential delays or conflicts. The Scheduler plays a key role in producing reports and supporting schedule-related communications to enhance project execution and control.

This position requires solid scheduling knowledge, attention to detail, strong communication skills, and proficiency in scheduling software. The Scheduler helps maintain project momentum by providing timely schedule updates and supporting risk identification efforts.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in developing and updating project schedules using Critical Path Method (CPM) and other scheduling techniques.
  • Collect and analyze progress data from field and project teams to update schedules and reflect current status.
  • Coordinate with project team members to gather schedule inputs and resolve conflicts or discrepancies.
  • Produce schedule reports, charts, and presentations for project meetings and status updates.
  • Monitor project milestones and identify potential delays or risks related to schedule performance.
  • Support the Lead Scheduler in preparing schedule forecasts, variance analysis, and recovery plans.
  • Maintain schedule databases and ensure compliance with company and client scheduling standards.
  • Assist with schedule integration across multiple disciplines and interfaces.
  • Use scheduling software such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or equivalent tools for schedule creation and maintenance.
  • Support schedule-related documentation and correspondence with project stakeholders.
  • Responsible for enforcing the Stop Work Authority.
Essential Job Functions

Essential functions are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Must be able to utilize a phone and computer, requiring sufficient digital manipulation skills to utilize a computer keyboard, mouse, telephone, and numerous tools.
  • Must be able to read and understand P&ID’s and isometric drawings
  • Familiarity with boiler codes, safety regulations, and pressure vessel standards (e.g., ASME, API, or local equivalents).
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Must be willing to comply with UPSIS Safety Policy and/or any related OSHA/ANSI standard regarding proper wearing of PPE, safe work practices, etc.
  • Must be able to comply with UPSIS Respirator and Confined Spaces policies.
  • Must be willing to work in confined spaces where movement may be restrictive.
  • Must be able to select proper equipment for any given job, with knowledge of Safe and Proper Equipment setup.
  • Must be willing to work for extended hours and willing to work over their scheduled shift, if required.
  • Able to work days or nights.
  • Must be able to drive and operate a vehicle.
  • Must be physically mobile and able to navigate construction, manufacturing, and office environments.
  • Able to read, write, understand, and speak the English language fluently.
  • Ability to maintain a clear, understandable voice, communicating vital business information to internal/external contacts.
Education and Experience

(Minimum and preferred education and experience to effectively perform this role. Must achieve one of the requirements below.)

  • Minimum High School Diploma, GED, or Equivalent.
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years experience in project scheduling or planning within industrial, commercial, or maintenance construction environments.
  • Familiarity with project scheduling principles, CPM methodology, and project controls.
  • Experience working under supervision of a Lead Scheduler or Planning Manager.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams to collect and validate schedule data.
  • Proficient in scheduling software such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar platforms.
  • Basic understanding of schedule risk analysis, Earned Value Management (EVM), and project reporting.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and PowerPoint for reporting and communication.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Work Environment

(The environment where work is performed, along with the physical and/or environmental demands relevant to this role.)

  • This position is a field position requiring daily travel to, through, and in field construction sites, in outdoor ambient conditions, including extreme weather, uneven surfaces, heights, and locations where chemicals and flammable materials are being used, processed, and treated.
  • Travel up to 100% of the time based on business needs.
  • Typical work settings are the office, field, and manufacturing/chemical/refining plant, which may involve exposure to noise, chemicals, extreme temperatures, and confined spaces.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, and manipulate at least 45 pounds consistently.
  • Must be able to wear the required safety equipment and navigate stairs, ladders, and uneven surfaces efficiently.
  • Accurate and clear vision and hearing.
  • Sufficient body dexterity to bend, stop, and reach for or otherwise gather tools, construction materials, office materials, and equipment on an ongoing basis.
  • Ability to remain seated for extended periods, as well as stand for extended periods.
