Sudden Service INC. is seeking a Scheduled Maintenance / Mechanic Trainee at SSI-West Memphis, AR 72301. You will assist the Service Center Manager and Field Service Mechanic with repair and maintenance of material handling equipment, supporting efficiency and service quality.

The role emphasizes learning on the job, safe driving, and professional conduct while delivering reliable service. Training is provided to advance toward a Field Service Mechanic position.

Qualifications

• Must meet physical demands of job (stooping, bending, climbing, twisting, lift to 50–60 lbs).
• Natural mechanical abilities; prior mechanical work experience or training preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record required for company vehicle use.

Responsibilities

• Assist in scheduled maintenance: lube changes, oil changes, filter service, brake adjustments.
• Support Field Service Mechanics in repairs and assembly tasks.
• Dismantle, overhaul, and assemble equipment as needed to aid repairs.
• Maintain neat, professional appearance and keep service truck clean and orderly.
• Complete work orders and related paperwork promptly and accurately.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support service operations.

Job Summary:

The Scheduled Maintenance / Mechanic Trainee reports directly to the Service Center Manager but works under the immediate supervision of a Field Service Mechanic (FSM) assigned to perform repair and maintenance of material handling equipment. The incumbent will assist the FSM with major repairs to customer equipment. The incumbent will also assist in any tasks such as dismantling, overhauling, and assembling equipment and machinery. The incumbent will work with the FSM in any way that will allow the FSM to perform repairs more efficiently.

The incumbent will assist in providing the Service Center Manager information such as the name of the customer, description of machine, nature of malfunction, time involved in working, driving, waiting, and mileage so that proper accounts may be charged, and proper billing is made.

In all duties, the Scheduled Maintenance / Mechanic Trainee will promote and enhance the company’s image by maintaining a neat personal appearance and by keeping the service truck in a clean, polished, and orderly condition. The incumbent will be courteous to the customer and the customer’s employees, and the incumbent’s work habits will include initiative and a positive attitude.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Schedule maintenance responsibilities to include complete lube changes, oil changes, filter services, and brake adjustments, as follows:

• Coolant system maintenance includes draining and refilling.
• Check all vehicle fluids and make general repairs when necessary.
• Check oil levels, as well as status of tires, air filters, windshield wiper fluid, brake fluid, and engine coolant.
• Change worn out or broken belts, hoses, spark plugs or windshield wiper blades.
• Maintain record of all maintenance performed.
• Clean and maintain work area as needed.
• As time permits, field service mechanics to job sites as trainees and to learn as much as possible with the future prospect of becoming a Field Service Mechanic.
• Must complete work orders and any job-related paperwork (i.e. JSA, inspection reports, cc receipts, etc) in a timely manner.
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Required Skills/Abilities:

• Must meet physical demands of job which includes stooping, bending, climbing, twisting, and capability of lift to 50 lbs. or occasionally 60 lbs.
• Must have natural mechanical abilities. Mechanical work experience or training preferable.
• Incumbents must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record, since employees will be driving company owned vehicle and will be covered under corporate insurance which has strict coverage requirements.
