Job summary

Mills James is seeking a Scenic Specialist to assist in constructing and installing scenic and staging projects for Onsite Live Events, Studio Broadcasts, and other Mills James projects. The role requires hands-on carpentry and the ability to read construction drawings, with travel up to 40% and flexible hours.

The candidate should have a high school diploma with at least four years of scenic carpenter experience in broadcast, film, theatre, or live entertainment, and be able to drive company

Qualifications

• High School diploma required with 4+ years of scenic carpenter experience in broadcast/theatre/live entertainment.
• Ability to read construction drawings, layouts and scenic documentation.
• Hands-on carpentry, painting, soft goods, print and logistics experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate shop build, packaging and transport of scenic elements.
• Perform construction roles on shop and location sites; may assist in technical roles (Audio/Lighting/Video/Stream).
• Follow safety procedures to protect crew, clients and audience.
• Assist in shop and warehouse maintenance and cleaning.
• Maintain proper storage of scenic elements in warehouse.
• Pickup and delivery of scenic elements, materials and tools.
• Drive to event sites as needed.

Summary

The Scenic Specialist assists in the construction and installation of scenic and staging projects for Onsite Live Events, Studio Broadcasts, and any other Mills James projects.

Requirements

• High School degree with a minimum of 4 years' experience as a scenic carpenter in broadcast, film, theatre, live entertainment scenic construction industry
• Knowledge of standard construction means and methods. Ability to read construction drawings, layouts and scenic documentation
• Hands on approach related to carpentry, paint, soft goods, print and logistics
• A high degree of adaptability to a continually changing environment
• Valid driver's license required. Required to obtain US Passport and medical card if necessary. Must be available for 40% travel and work flexible hours
• Able to drive company vehicles including cars, vans, and box trucks
• Available to work odd hours including early morning, evenings, overnight, and occasional weekends
