Job summary

SFDS is seeking dependable Freelance Scenic Artists to join our Brooklyn shop. The role focuses on sanding scenic elements and props, with opportunities to assist in sculpting, painting, and scenic fabrication projects.

Responsibilities include sanding and preparing pieces, shaping foam/wood, applying finishes, and maintaining a safe workspace. Strong teamwork and attention to detail are essential; ability to meet project deadlines is valued.

Qualifications

• Experience with sanding and surface preparation preferred.
• Scenic art, theater, fabrication, woodworking, sculpture, or painting experience is a plus.
• Ability to use hand and power tools safely.
• Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship.
• Ability to lift and move materials as needed.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.

About the Role
SFDS is seeking dependable and hardworking Freelance Scenic Artists to join our team. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy hands-on creative work and are comfortable working in a shop environment. The primary focus of this role is sanding scenic elements and props, with additional opportunities to assist in sculpting, painting, and scenic fabrication projects.
