We are seeking a Scale Service Technician. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and reliable operation of various types of scales used in industrial and commercial settings. Your responsibilities will include installation, maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of scales to guarantee precise measurements, compliance with industry standards, and customer satisfaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Scale Installation: Properly install and set up various types of scales, including industrial, laboratory, and commercial scales, according to manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
  2. Calibration: Perform calibration procedures to ensure that scales provide accurate measurements. Adjust calibration settings as needed to meet precision requirements.
  3. Maintenance and Repair: Conduct routine maintenance on scales to prevent malfunctions and extend their lifespan. Diagnose and repair scale issues promptly to minimize downtime.
  4. Inspection: Inspect scales for wear, damage, and functionality. Identify and address issues related to load cells, display units, and other components.
  5. Documentation: Maintain detailed records of service and calibration activities, including calibration certificates, service reports, and parts used. Ensure all work is well-documented and compliant with industry regulations.
  6. Customer Interaction: Interact with clients in a professional and courteous manner. Discuss service requirements, provide estimates, and address any concerns or questions related to scale operation.
  7. Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols to ensure a secure working environment. Prioritize safety when working with heavy equipment and electrical components.
  8. Quality Assurance: Ensure that serviced scales meet all quality and regulatory standards. Verify that scales are suitable for their intended applications.
  9. Inventory Management: Keep track of spare parts, tools, and equipment required for scale service and maintenance. Replenish supplies as necessary.
  10. Training: Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in scale technology and industry best practices. Participate in training programs to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Skills and Knowledge:

  1. Proven experience in scale installation, calibration, and repair.
  2. Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
  3. Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to scales (e.g., ISO 9001, NIST Handbook 44).
  4. Proficiency in using calibration and measurement equipment.
  5. Strong communication and customer service skills.
  6. Physical fitness and the ability to lift heavy objects (50 pounds) and work in various environmental conditions.
  7. Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record. Class B (or A) Commercial Drivers License (CDL) a plus.
  8. AC/DC, MIG Welding a plus.

Education:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in electronics, instrumentation, or a related field is preferred.
  2. 2-3 years’ experience in the industry preferred.
