Job summary

Agtegra Cooperative in Aberdeen, SD is seeking a highly motivated Grain Operations Operator to support our grain-handling team. You will weigh trucks, obtain and grade grain samples, and communicate results to the location manager and grain attendants to keep daily activities running smoothly.

This role requires accuracy and teamwork in a fast-paced environment. Candidates must be able to perform physically demanding tasks, work outdoors in varied conditions, and lift up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

  • Experience working in agriculture or grain handling is preferred.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Weigh trucks as they arrive at location.
  • Obtain grain samples and grade grain accordingly.
  • Communicate grain and grade to attendants and manager to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Maintain housekeeping of the facility (elevator, buildings, grounds).
  • Assist with marketing possibilities and grain settlements when required.
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures (DOT, PPE, insurance).

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Operator to join our Grain Operations team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for weighing trucks as they arrive at location.
  • Obtains grain samples using necessary equipment and grades grain accordingly.
  • Communicates the grain and grade to the grain attendants on each load. Communicates and works closely with the Location Manager to ensure day-to-day grain activities run efficiently.
  • Maintains the housekeeping of the facility including: elevator, buildings, grounds, etc.
  • Communicates daily with grain supervisor or attendants to understand all grain strategies and to get daily instruction that will help complete the daily tasks.
  • Partners with Grain Accounting for accurate and efficient accounting of grain. Contacts customers regularly informing them of dumping hours, potential dumping delays, and market opportunities.
  • Assists customers with marketing possibilities, ultimately working towards purchasing that producer's grain.
  • Stays informed of current company programs and other information necessary to handle grain accurately and efficiently.
  • Provides daily current market prices to customers and other pertinent market information.
  • Keeps grain room, scale area, scale, and grading equipment clean and in optimum working condition.
  • Depending on location, this position may also be responsible to make grain contacts and grain settlements.
  • Understanding and adhering to all safety policies and procedures and maintaining a safe and clean work environment, including compliance with US DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements, the Agtegra Drug Free Workplace Policy, OSHA regulations, and the Agtegra Vehicle Policy and Fleet Safety Program.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • English Proficiency.
  • Ability to perform physical job duties which may include bending, lifting up to 50lbs, kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions which may include heat, cold, dust, loud noise, etc., with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including a respirator.
  • Ability to work in elevated areas (4 feet and above)
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work overtime including weekends, holidays, or different shifts.
