Job description

Mulzer Crushed Stone, Inc., a CRH Company, is the foremost supplier of crushed stone, sand, gravel, scrubber stone, rip-rap and ag-lime in Southern Indiana. Complete with six quarries, fifteen retail locations and two sand and gravel plants, Mulzer Crushed Stone, Inc. has supplied aggregate to area construction projects, large and small, since 1935. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, but other duties may be assigned:

  1. Travel between locations as needed; 30 miles between multiple locations.
  2. Takes and records customer orders.
  3. Weighs trucks and enters tickets on computer.
  4. Proficient in computer and organizational skills.
  5. Ability to multi-task.
  6. Ability to project a professional attitude when dealing with internal and external customers by phone or in person.
  7. Balances to cash receipts and deposits.
  8. Implements company credit and sales policies.
  9. Moves aggregates from one area to another.
  10. Loads OTR trucks to maintain a good cycle time.
  11. Performs pre-shift inspection.
  12. Maintains loader area (roads, stockpile areas and berms).
  13. Operates loader in such a way as to prevent damage (does not spin tires, run in water or run over rocks in roadways).
  14. Completes daily safety check.
  15. Rolls samples for Quality Control Technicians.
  16. Performs routine maintenance on loader such as lubricating, fueling and cleaning.

QUALIFICATIONS

  3. Knowledge and understanding of equipment.
  4. Knowledge of work areas (yard, pit, stockpiles, etc.).
  5. Knowledge of products and arrangements.
  6. Knowledge of weight limits on OTR trucks.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent; or minimum of one year related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have computer skills either through experience or classes.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms; use hands to finger, handle or feel; talk or hear; sit; stand; walk; climb or balance; stoop; kneel; crouch or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

The employee must wear personal protective equipment of steel toed shoes/boots, safety glasses, hard hat and gloves if applicable.
