Job summary

TIC_Craft in Abilene, TX is seeking an entry-level helper to support skilled craftspersons on construction projects. You'll learn to read blueprints, prepare materials, and assist with scaffolding and safety.

Under supervision, you will measure, mark, cut, and handle hand and power tools, work outdoors in all weather, and may overtime. This hands-on role offers growth in a field-focused trades environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or possible with field experience.
• Ability to understand, follow and communicate instructions to supervision.
• Field experience in chosen craft discipline.
• Knowledge of safe and efficient use of hand and power tools.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints to determine scope, locations, quantities, and materials.
• Identify tools required and measure/mark/cut materials to spec.
• Assist skilled craftsman to erect and disassemble scaffolding and install ladders, handrails, walkways, platforms, and gangways.
• Assist with construction, reinforcement, and dismantling scaffolds.
• Assist in building wooden scaffolds and related items.
• Perform rigging of equipment loads.

Position Summary

Assist skilled craftsperson(s) by performing supportive duties as directed and will work under immediate supervision. The level and degree of job responsibilities and requirements vary depending on months of experience and assigned job step.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

• Learn to read blueprints and specification to determine the scope of work: locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required.
• Learn to identify all tools required for tasks and measure, mark, and cut required wooden/metallic materials to required specifications.
• Assist skilled craftsman to erect and disassemble scaffolding for buildings and other structures and installs ladders, handrails, walkways, platforms, and gangways.
• Assist with construction, re-enforcement, and dismantling pre-constructed scaffolds.
• Assist with buildin and constructing wooden Scaffolds and auxiliary items.
• Perform work involving rigging of equipment loads.

Qualifications

• May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area.
• Must possess knowledge skills and abilities for position
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision
• Field experience in chosen craft discipline
• Knowledge of the safe and efficient use of hand tools, power tools and layout tools.

Requirements

• Able to meet all physical requirements.
• Must have all required tools
• Expected to climb and work at heights and in confined spaces (may exceed 200 ft)
• Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Able to work overtime, nights, and weekends as required by the workload
• Observe and comply with all safety and project rules. Performs other duties as required.
