Job Summary:

The Scaffold Builder Leadman will provide leadership, instruction, and guidance to other craft workers, providing assistance to Foreman, while working in the capacity of a journeyman.

Oversight of the scaffold builders in the construction, assembly, maintenance, and dismantling of scaffolding or other temporary structures according to OSHA guidelines and manufacturers' recommendations. Other duties may be assigned.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Work at heights with no fear.
  2. Assign work to employees.
  3. Determine the type of scaffold needed and instruct on proper installation.
  4. Conduct crew meetings and assist in toolbox meetings.
  5. Understand scope of contract and change order process.
  6. Ensure no out of scope work is performed without approved change order.
  7. Ensure that work is performed in accordance with Contractor Specifications.
  8. Ensure accurate loading, unloading, and storage of assigned materials and equipment.
  9. Hoist scaffolding materials upward to erect temporary structures.
  10. Properly secure and level locking sections of scaffolding material.
  11. Secure scaffold to the permanent structure for added stability.
  12. Adhere to all OSHA, site-specific, and Gulf Coast Industrial requirements for erecting and navigating scaffolding.
  13. Supervise dismantling of scaffolding when properly communicated.
  14. Inspect and properly stow scaffolding material after dismantling.
  15. Perform final inspection of completed scaffolding.
  16. Perform pre-job safety planning (Job Hazard Analysis) for each work task and ensure that employees adhere to all safety rules.
  17. Other duties as assigned.

Key Requirements, Education, and Experience:

  1. Minimum of 3 years in craft or 2 years of craft experience and 1 year's supervisory experience.
  2. Must be able to follow directions.
  3. High school Diploma or GED preferred.
  4. Must have knowledge of safe work practices.
