Job summary

Gulf Copper is seeking an experienced scaffolding professional to oversee site inspection and layout for scaffolded areas. The role requires knowledge of OSHA regulations, scaffold safety, and various scaffold systems, with emphasis on proper access, egress, and rigging procedures.

The candidate should have at least 2 years in scaffolding or carpentry, be able to work under extreme weather, and communicate effectively with crews and production.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate/Equivalent required.
• Minimum of 2 years scaffolding/carpentry experience required.
• Knowledge of erecting and inspecting scaffolds; certified Scaffold Competent Person preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• NCCER Certificate Holder preferred.

Responsibilities

• Communicate effectively with production.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Site inspection and layout of areas that require scaffolding.

2. Knowledge of OSHA Regulations

3. Scaffold safety.

4. Knowledge of tube and clamp, pin lock, cup lock scaffolds construction

5. Knowledge of system scaffolds

6. Must have own scaffolding tools. Such as ratchets, sockets, wrenches, hammers.

7. Proper access and egress requirements and practices

8. Working knowledge of rigging hardware and procedures

9. The ability to work under extreme weather conditions, hot/cold.

10. Ability to follow scaffold building instructions that pertain to design, location, and review scaffolding projects per client and/or project specific demands.

11. Ability to communicate effectively with scaffolding crew, and other depts. on projects.

12. Ability to Acquire and Maintain a government I.D.

13. Ability to communicate effectively with production.

Required Education & Experience:

1. High School Graduate/Equivalent.

2. Minimum of 2 Years Scaffolding/carpentry experience.

3. Knowledge of erecting and inspecting scaffolds, certified Scaffold Competent person is preferred.

4. Bilingual English/Spanish, preferred.

Working Conditions:

1. Field work in Shop or Shipyard or on field location as required.

2. Capable of working at heights and inside confined spaces.

3. Open-air conditions such as noisy, hot, cold, etc.

4. Must wear hearing, eye, and head protection.

5. Some climbing (100 feet) and lifting (50 lbs.) involved.

6. Working with hot and sometimes hazardous materials.

7. Traverse gangways and scaffolding at varying heights.

8. Confined spaces

Necessary Equipment Operation:

1. Working knowledge of Rigging hardware and procedures

Special Skills:

1. Ability to work under deadlines and schedule pressures.

2. Ability to understand and execute work scope directions from Scaffolding Foreman.
