Job summary

Austin Industrial is seeking a Scaffold Builder in Decatur, IL to construct, assemble, maintain, and dismantle tubular scaffolding. A minimum of 3 years of scaffolding experience is required.

You will work at heights, assess site needs, and ensure safety hazards are mitigated before erection. Responsibilities include selecting scaffold type, inspecting materials, transporting components, and securing structures per OSHA and company requirements.

Summary:

Austin Industrial is a merit shop, employee-owned company and has been a provider of construction, maintenance, plant services, turnaround and specialty services to the oil, gas and chemical, energy (power and ethanol), and manufacturing industries for more than 100 years.

We are currently seeking a Scaffold Builder. This person will construct, assemble, maintain,and dismantles tubular scaffolding or other temporary structures.This is accomplished by performing the following essential duties and responsibilities.A minimum of 3 years of experience is required within the Scaffolding craft. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsibilities:

• Work at heights with no fear.
• Determines type of scaffold needed.
• Inspects job site and all scaffold material for defects and safety hazards.
• Effectively communicates safety hazards and mitigates avoidable hazards prior to construction of scaffolding.
• Transports tubular scaffold or other structural material and erects the scaffold to the dimensions required.
• Hoists scaffolding materials upward in order to erect temporary structure.
• Properly secures and levels locking sections of scaffolding material.
• Properly secures scaffold to the permanent structure for added stability.
• Adheres to all OSHA, site specific and Austin Industrial requirements for the erecting and navigation of the scaffolding.
• Performs final inspection of completed scaffolding.
• Dismantles scaffolding when it has been properly communicated to do so.
• Inspects and properly stows scaffolding material after dismantling.
