Job summary

The City of Norman seeks a Water Treatment Plant/Water Reclamation Facility Utilities Specialist to oversee SCADA systems, data collection, and plant operations in a full-time exempt role in Norman, OK. The position requires a BS in Engineering or related field (preferred) and five years of SCADA/telemetry experience.

Candidate must hold or obtain Oklahoma DEQ Class D Water and Class D Wastewater certifications within six months and possess a valid Oklahoma driver's license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field preferred.
• Five years of related experience with SCADA/telemetry.
• OKDEQ Class D Water and Class D Wastewater Operator Certification within six months of employment.
• Must possess a valid Oklahoma Driver’s License with satisfactory driving record.

Responsibilities

• Manage the SCADA system to assure reliability and security.
• Perform backups and archival tasks for programs, screens, tag databases and history.
• Maintain security systems and administer passwords.
• Update PLC programs and related software used in the facility.
• Provide technical support to field staff for PLCs and instrumentation.
• Develop and update SCADA HMI control logic and display screens.
• Train staff on control logic and SCADA interactions.
• Coordinate with IT on LAN security and related issues.
• Review electric bills and use plant data to improve operating efficiency; forecast budgets.
