Job summary

City of Mesa is hiring a Utilities Control Center Operator I to learn SCADA monitoring and operation of water distribution, natural gas usage, and wastewater flow. The role handles after-hours calls, determines urgency, directs proper departments, and dispatches personnel as needed.

Under close supervision, trainees progress to Operator II after about a year of service with on-the-job training and evaluations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in water, gas, wastewater or related operations preferred.
• Must be able to handle after-hours calls and dispatch personnel as needed.
• Must meet DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and operate SCADA system for water distribution and natural gas, wastewater flow.
• Receive after-hours calls from City of Mesa customers and dispatch appropriate personnel.
• Assess urgency and determine the appropriate department and standby personnel.
• Work varied shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.
